Foundation Degree in Children's Development and Learning
Course Overview

This course is delivered in partnership with the University of Reading. You spend the first two years studying at BCoT one afternoon/evening per week. There is then the opportunity to spend the final year at the University of Reading to ‘top up’ to a full BA (Hons) degree. This course provides the ideal opportunity to work towards a degree alongside relevant employment and is half the cost of a traditional degree programme at university.

Course Content

Modules include:

  • Professionalism in the children's workforce
  • Theories of development and learning
  • The child in society
  • Creativity and critical thinking.
Entry Requirements
You should have completed a Level 3 qualification in Childcare or a related subject and be working at least 0.5FT or 20 hours a week in a childcare setting.
Assessment
This course is assessed through a variety of methods for each module. These may include: Essays, Reports, Presentations, Research Project, Guided Professional Discussions and Reflective Accounts.
