Level 2 NCFE Diploma in Travel and Tourism
Course Overview

This qualification is designed to help you progress either to further study in a similar area at Level 3 or into a relevant role in the varied Travel and Tourism industry.

It would suit you if you are leaving school and want to take your first steps into a career in travel but will also very relevant if you are an adult learner who may be thinking about changing career.

This one-year course provides you with a solid foundation in the travel industry preparing you for an apprenticeship, employment or higher level study. You will learn in several different ways including individual and group assignments, practical application of classroom based teaching and industry-related projects, together with visits to a range of travel and tourism attractions.

You will cover an exciting range of subjects including:

There is a variety of learning methods, including individual and group assignments, practical application of classroom based teaching and industry related projects, together with visits to a range of travel and tourism attractions.

To enhance employment opportunities the course may also have additional qualifications built into the programme.

English and Maths
If you are aged under 19 and if you do not hold a GCSE grade C or higher in English and Maths, you will be required to work towards these qualifications.
Entry Requirements

You will need four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above (preferably to include English, maths and a science) or successful completion of our Future Pathways course.


The course is continuously assessed through assignments, projects and case studies. You will develop a responsible and co-operative approach to working on your own and in groups.

The course uses practical activities, presentations and involvement with local business wherever possible.


Each course offers appropriate work experience to compliment the knowledge and skills you will learn at college. This course includes a number of visits which may include Brooklands Concorde Experience, TAG Farnborough Airport Tour and Paulton's Park Customer Service Workshop, costing £100, payable as a course fee at enrolment.

All visits are directly linked to the subjects within the course and are used for assessment.

What does this course lead to?

This course is a recognised route onto a Level 3 course; you should aim for a merit or distinction grade to ensure progression.

Additional Costs

Each student is responsible for purchasing general stationery items.

Financial Information
If you are aged 16-18, tuition and registration fees are free.
If you are aged 19 or over, tuition and registration fees are payable at the start of each year of study; please ask for details.
If you are aged 24 or over, you may be eligible for a Student Loan to assist with your fees; please ask for details.
Fee Concessions 19 - 23
Fee concessions may be available if you are out of work, on low income or studying for your first Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 qualification. Please contact us for more information.
Staged Payment
A staged payment plan is available to help with course fees.
Travel Subsidy
We offer discounts on rail and Zone 2 buses outside of Basingstoke. There is financial assistance available for those families on a low income.
If you are unable to pay any of the course costs, or need financial assistance you may be eligible to receive a college bursary.
