Carpentry and Joinery - Level 1 CSkills Diploma
Course Overview

This course is designed to cover the basic knowledge in carpentry and joinery. In addition to the theory there is a full programme of elementary practical tasks completed in the workshop.

Course Content

This Level 1 course will lead to Level 2 Diploma. All students will embark on a course of study that integrates Level 1 Carpentry and Joinery Skills.

Subject covered include:

Safe working practices information, quantities and communicating with others, building methods and construction technology, basic woodworking joints, maintain and use hand tools, prepare and use portable power tools.

A synoptic practical assignment

A online ERR course (Employment Rights and Responsibilities) .
Entry Requirements

2 GCSEs grade 3 or above in English and Maths.

Mature students welcome.

Assessment

This course is continuously assessed by both practical and written assingments/test plus end of unit on-line tests.

What does this course lead to?

This course is a recognised route into a Construction Diploma Level 2 and 3, employment or an Apprenticeship.

Equipment Required

- A comprehensive reading list can be supplied upon request.

- The recommended books cost approximately £60 (all books can be borrowed from the College and local libraries). - A4 paper, folder, common stationery and PPE
