Future Skills Centre - Level 2 CSkills Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery
Course Overview
This course is delivered on 3 days a week between 10am and 4pm (different days may be available).
Course Content

The course covers a wide range of subjects including:

  • Move and handle resources
  • Contribute to work efficiency
  • Access equipment
  • Carcassing
  • First fix before plasterwork
  • Second fix after plasterwork
  • Power tools
  • Health and Safety



English and Maths
If you are aged under 19 and if you do not hold a GCSE grade C or higher in English and Maths, you will be required to work towards these qualifications.
Entry Requirements

You should have 4 D grades at GCSE, including English and maths, or equivalent qualifications.  You will be invited to an informal interview with the tutor before starting.


The course is continuously assessed by both practical and written assignments/tests.

What does this course lead to?

This course is a recognised route into a full-time Level 3 course or employment, including an Apprenticeship.

Equipment Required

Students will be required to purchase personal protective equipment (boots, gloves and safety specs).

Tuition fee: £1000  (instalment plans are available)

Registration fee: £112

Exam fee: £17.30 (for Health and Safety exam)

Financial Information
If you are aged 16-18, tuition and registration fees are free.
If you are aged 19 or over, tuition and registration fees are payable at the start of each year of study; please ask for details.
If you are aged 24 or over, you may be eligible for a Student Loan to assist with your fees; please ask for details.
Staged Payment
A staged payment plan is available to help with course fees.
Reduced Fees
Fee concessions may be available if you are out of work, on low income or studying for your first Level 1 or Level 2 qualification.
If you are unable to pay any of the course costs, or need financial assistance you may be eligible to receive a college bursary.

Travel Subsidy
BCoT offers discount on travel to and from the college for full time students. We offer 50% discount on rail fares and if you are travelling by bus, we offer 25% off Zone 2 buses outside of Basingstoke. There is financial assistance available for those families on a low income.
