Course Overview

The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting Level 2  is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance. The qualification would suit anyone already working in an accounting or anyone aspiring to do so and achieve a qualification under the AQ2016 syllabus

The purpose of the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is to offer grounding in the core accounting knowledge and skills needed to progress either to employment or to further study.

The Foundation Certificate is open to those who are working and those who are not currently in employment. This qualification could also help someone who is already working in an entry-level finance role to progress in their career by offering them development and formal recognition of their skills.

Course Content

The course will cover the following Subjects:

Bookkeeping Transactions (BTRN)

Bookkeeping Controls (BKCL)

Elements of Costing (ELCO)

Work Effectively in Finance (WKAF)

Using Accounting Software (UACS)
Entry Requirements

Acceptance to this level is dependent on good basic Maths and English Qualifications (preferably GCSE Grade C and above) or appropriate vocational competence as well assuccessful completion of a telephone or face to face interview with the Course Director.

Students who are or have been declared bankrupt or have a criminal conviction may not be eligible to join the AAT - please discusswith the course Director before attempting enrolment 

The blended learning mode of study is most suitable for persons who are looking for a more flexible way to study. However you  will need to be disciplined in self directed learning as well as attending a class 2-3 times per month. Previous experience of being an independent learner and studying from a distance would be preferred.   

Assessment
All units are mandatory and completion of 4 individual computerised assessments is required along with a synoptic assessment that will assess the content of 4 specific units. A certificate for the level will be achieved by passing all individual unit assessments as well as the synoptic assessment
What does this course lead to?
Successful completion of the Foundation Certificate in Accounting level 2 could lead to students being accepted onto the Advanced Diploma in Accounting Level 3
Equipment Required
Students must purchase their own books BEFORE starting class in September. The book list will be issued upon acceptance to the course, you must purchase the ISBN number shown to ensure you have the correct copy, .aprox Cost £120
